Plastic Bottle Waste

Cheap plastic bottles have a limited value—the end result is that they often wind up in garbage dumps. In Tucson alone, 170,000 water bottles are going to landfill everyday. Nationally, the number is in the billions.

According to the Container Recycling Institute approximately 24 million barrels of crude oil equivalent were consumed in 2007 to replace the 2.5 million tons of PET bottles that were wasted instead of recycled.

The Dirty Secret

Bottling companies pump up to 500 gallons per minute, out of wells that run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The problem is when local aquifers become drained for water being bottled and sent away. Thus depleting local resources, using energy for transport and contributing to pollution in the process.

At WSS, the water we are purifying is de
signated for local consumption. By utilizing local resources, we are not negatively impacting the aquifer of communities outside of Tucson. Most of our customers include us as part of their daily errands—so we are not contributing the the transport issues.

In buying locally, your money contributes to our economy, strengthens the community and adds to Tucson's overall sustainability.
